Another Blues’ adventure!! Last night, I heard that nasty little sound of water hitting the roof, and then FELT little drops hitting my side. What’s wrong with THIS picture, I thought???
So I got up, made sure the vent was closed. Still drips. So I got up again, moved the bed back to couch position, put the back bolster on the dinette and put a bucket under the vent. Seemed to work for the night.
I awoke as the sky filled with light and realized that the vent is cracked from one side to the other on the leading edge. As it is still raining, I can’t do much about it at the moment.
Pat and I decided to run away to Rolla today to look at the shops and took Aeden and Alizebeth with us. They stayed home from summer school since they were up so late last night. We all decided to try Shoney’s for lunch, as we’d heard of them but never eaten there. Not fantastic, but not too bad.
As Alizebeth’s hand has swollen even more, we checked with Anjanine, who checked with the doctor. They want us to take her back to the emergency room on base to have her hand looked at again. The nurse said “come on in, it’s not busy”.
So we sat… and sat. Lots of soldiers in a small, cramped room. Pat and I decided that I would stay with Alizebeth, she would go get Logan from school. So I read two entire magazines while Alizebeth slept, curled up in the chair, with my jacket and her sweater as a blanket. Then the nurse came out and announced that our wait could be up to 3 hours!!
So, quick conference…. Pat will take the kids she has and meet Anjanine at the veterinarians office to get the kitten her shots, then Anjanine will come get Alizebeth and I. At first, Anjanine was going to get us first when she got off work, but I thought since we had already waited a couple of hours, we might as well make sure there isn’t anything awful going on with the bite and wait.
We were finally seen about 5-6pm. Turns out the heat/inflammation is a toxic reaction caused by the bite and not an allergy. So, an anti-itch cream has been added to the antibiotics and antihistamine that she was prescribed last night.
Since we needed to wait a bit for a ride home, Alizebeth and I cross-countried through the tall grass to the Burger King where we indulged in Oreo shakes with a yummy treat for Anjanine, too. Now my feet itch (I’m allergic to grass), but the shake helps me forget.
Once at the house, I got on the roof of Blue and discovered TWO parallel cracks on the leading edge of the vent. I’m glad they didn’t start leaking in Sedalia!!. I’m sure the wind and rough road hasn’t helped. I did call Vince at Lazy Daze at lunch and will send him pictures of the leading edge of the vent to get the correct replacement part. It’s great to be able to deal with the manufacturer of a 20 year old rig and get instant help!!
So I duck taped the heck out of it and hope it stays together until I get home to Arizona. Poor Smudge was on the ground whining at me. Turns out she had wrapped her cable around the back tires and was stuck!!
You wouldn't think this kitten is spoiled, would you???
We all had fresh eggs for dinner, and just sat around relaxing. It’s not raining, but it’s pretty cool out. One day it’s hot, next day it’s muggy, next day it’s raining, or a combination of all three!!
