9/26 Friday, Surprise, AZ..A Day Off
Didn’t do much today with Blue other than to top up the house batteries and re-check the running lights. I’ve got a upper rear clearance light and a lower rear side light with no power. Something to remember to ask Mike Sylvester about. I wish Terry Tanner or Larry Wade would be at the Fiesta. Those guys are whizzes!
9/25 Thursday, Surprise, AZ
Steve took out the passenger seat to tighten up the “wobble” it’s had since I had the seats re-stuffed. He had re-worked the bases of the captains chairs to make them revolve properly and leveled their height when I had the seats done, but we never re-adjusted them for final fit. He also re-positioned the lap belt for the drivers seat. I was outside checking fluids and tire pressures and adding water to the fresh water tank. Normally, I don’t run with a lot of water in the fresh tank, but I do make an exception for New Mexico/Balloon Fiesta water! Then, off to Best Buy for the stereo install.
On the way I hit the brakes fairly hard, and realized I forgot to put the lose stuff in the sink. My hand lotion and dish soap slid into the entry step and made a BIG mess. Yuck!
Picked Blue up around 3pm and love the new stereo!! I tried not to get upset when the clerk called Blue a “Winnebago”. ARGGH!! The new stereo is quite user friendly and I’ll be able to plug in my laptop or an Ipod to listen to music or movies, along with being able to play my CDs without an adapter and other miscellaneous pieces and wires all over!!
Stopped at the market to pick up “Pot Luck/Fire pit” supplies for the Lazy Daze Southwest Group meet. I’m starting to get excited!!
Looking at Blue in the market parking lot, shining in the sun gave me a warm/fuzzy feeling. He’s not bad looking for an old rig, at least from a distance! He does have some “wrinkles” (cracks in the decorative tape stripes), and "zits" from paint touch ups, but one does need to look closely. I’ve given thought to re-stripe him completely. I’ve only done the hood stripe and one spot on the cab over, which is peeling off for some reason.
Since I took the bottom step piece of carpet up to clean up the goop I spilled earlier, I did one other thing I’ve been planningfor a LONG time, which is to put vinyl tile down on the entry step. The carpet was also so grungy!! The tiles look okay, too!

9/24 Wednesday, Surprise, AZ
Still waxing… got the drivers side finished. I haven’t done the very top span of white or the backside. Not sure if I will, as my arms are pretty tired. I also Armor-all’d the tires.
Steve was looking at the new stereo and since there are more issues than we are prepared to deal with, we went over to Best Buy to get a quote on installing the new unit. The face plate needs to be cut and a new wiring harness will need to be obtained. Made an appointment for the install tomorrow. The old stereo will be installed in the “Big Ugly”, my ’74 Chevy short bed pick up. Rico whacked his head on the stereo in the truck and broke off the tuner knob. Since Blue’s old stereo has the old fashioned “two-knob” style, it should fit right in
Most everything has been tidied up inside and the non-perishable foods and supplies are packed away. I’ve been pirating various lists from other RV’ers and have been updating and marking things off for Blue’s applications. I always forget something important!!

9/23 Tuesday, Surprise, AZ...What a Mess!
Waxed a little more today, once it cooled down and the tree shaded the drivers side cab. Blue’s “fake” windows were looking fairly oxidized, so they got a double coat of wax. Considering I repainted them with spray paint, they still look okay a few years down the road.Steve pulled the cassette stereo from the dash with none of the “glue” problems other LD owners have had. We will need to get a conversion plate and wiring adapter, though, before the install is complete for the new stereo with a CD player (whaaa-whoo). Didn’t want to get too fancy, as last years’ breakin still smarts!
Really have made a mess inside. I keep re-arranging things (analizing, as we call it). I usually get this kind of creative when I'm out on the road somewhere. Hopefully the weed police aren't around to fine me for having Blue in the driveway!
9/22 Monday, Surprise, AZ....Getting Ready
Picked up Blue from storage and got slightly ambitious. I started waxing, by hand, the passenger side, then the front. In between waxed areas, I re-arranged the closet, again. I found a shallow height, two big drawer plastic “thingee” at a yard sale, and wanted to incorporate it into the closet, and it worked, after re-arranging everything.
Introduced a “wanna-be” couple, Arnold and Marilyn to an old LD, and Blue was very accommodating. They are dreaming of a Multi-plan or Front Dinette to travel around in, and I invited them over to visit and get a first hand look.
