Friday June 12 – Gros Ventre Campground

We really didn’t freeze too much last night, despite no heat and the rain. We had our breakfast and visited with everybody. Ron came over with an RV repair book and Smudge was very unsociable (nippy). I’ve also called Mike Sylvester and left a message for suggestions on heater repair. Looks to be more than one would want to tackle on the road.



After lunch and naps, Steve and I drove up to the Jenny Lake loop. To do the drive it would have been $25. Turns out if Steve bought a Golden Age pass, it will be $10 and free for all National Parks from here on out.

It is very beautiful here, and the clouds did lift enough for the tops of the Tetons to be seen. A fairly new bike path has been constructed along side of the road, and we saw lots of cyclists. There is also a very nice visitors center that is newer than the last time I was up here. New visitors center, above.... Tetons hiding behind the clouds, below....

At 6:30pm we had a happy hour in Gil and Nancy’s rig. Quite crowded but lots of fun and very warm!! We had Brie and Laughing Cow cheeses, lots of crackers and shrimp and sauce. Wine and Steve’s margueritas, too.

After happy hour we went walking to try to see the beaver and some moose. Saw the beaver dam, but no beaver. We then walked to the other end of the campground and boy, was I tired!! It doesn’t get dark here until about 9:30pm, but one doesn’t want to be out after dark due to all the wildlife. There are lots of notices about bears and not leaving ANYTHING outside that they might like. A bear who learns to love people food is a dead bear, unfortunately.
