Thursday June 4 - Richland MO

Uggggh!!! I woke up this morning with a killer sore throat. My ears have felt stuffy, my eyes itchy, been sneezing more… but the sore throat is worrying me because a couple of the kids have strep throat.

Pat and I did go out for a bit, first to get more propane for Blue and also to Walmart to look for curtains for the breakfast room to “soften” the glaring light that comes in. I got teased at the propane place “you back again??”, but since both the refrigerator and hot water have been running on propane, they said that really wasn’t bad on usage. At Walmart, Pat found some white sheers, and we got tension rods to avoid drilling any holes in the walls. We also got some ribbon to make tie-backs for the curtains. We picked up a couple of our "favorite" salads to take back to the house.

Once home, while Pat worked on the younger girls room while I hung the curtains. By then it was time to pick up Logan. I had decided to check in with urgent care to see about my throat and now my mid back and joints are achy too. So, when Pat got back, I drove over to Waynesville to what I was told was the urgent care. Turns out it is no longer an urgent care and I had to back track to Lebanon to St Johns Hospital, so 20 miles one way, back 20 miles, and another 20 the other way!
Old buildings in Lebanon.... not sure if they are still occupied or not.....

The St Johns urgent care doesn’t open until 5pm, so I asked where the local hardware store was to kill some time. I got very good directions, but didn’t realize the “AG” building was also the hardware store. Must have circled the block about 4 times, and after all that, the store didn’t have what I was looking for.

I got back to the urgent care at 10 to 5, and there was one other couple there ahead of me. They opened promptly at 5, and I was in being seen by 5:20. Turns out there is no strep, but my ears and nose are inflamed… probably due to allergies. The doctors’ assistant said that in the last two weeks, allergies are driving even folks that DON’T have allergies nuts.

I wandered back to the house via Historic Route 66, taking a few more pictures as I went.
Once home, I had a plate of baked corkscrew pasta and bread for dinner. I’m surprised the kids left me some.

I also tried to resolve paying bills online as my latest “care package” of mail seems to be lost in the mail. I was getting so frustrated!! I finally called Kaiser and after being on hold for 30 minutes was at least able to pay my medical insurance premium, which was due on the first. I tried to look up other bills (I THOUGHT I had everything set up on line before I left), but I was really having a hard time.

So, I decided to give up and go to bed….
